ABOUT THE SOUTH DURHAM SHOWING GROUP

South Durham Showing Group was formed in Spring 2007. The objective was to have an organisation for riders, interested in showing on an amateur level, to give them all the information they needed to look on a par with the professionals.

Since then, we have grown to approximately 150 members and have successfully secured affiliation to Ultimate Showcase of Champions, Prestige Equine Events, Midlands Championships, Horse Parade and other various organisations and associations each year.

SDSG was one of the first member clubs within the North Eastern region to affiliate to Festival Association which was the predecessor to Ultimate Showcase. There are now in 2010 a few more member clubs within the North East region to affiliate to either Festival Association or USOC. In 2008 and 2009 we finished in the top 10 of the trilogy of Festival Association.

We are also a member of Midarc (Midland Championships) who offer a bursary and other benefits to the club and their members.

We currently hold 3 shows a year offering affiliations and qualifications to MARCS, 15+, VHS, USOC, Prestige Equine Events, Amateur Showing Society, Royal London Show, TARRA, Scotnorth etc. We also hold fun shows, clinics and teaching sessions. In 2009 we started a dressage series offering qualifications to 15+, USOC and Midarcs dressage championships.
